OUR MISSION

‘Create a culture of reading amongst first-time, young children in North India.’

MY STORY

From a young age, I developed a passion for reading, diving into countless books that transported me to new worlds and expanded my imagination. The library summer programs became a highlight of my childhood, as I eagerly participated and won books as rewards for my voracious reading habits. These books became cherished possessions, each one holding a story that resonated with me.

As I grew older, I realized that these books were piling up on my shelves, waiting to be rediscovered. It struck me that others might not have the same access to books and the joy of reading that I did. Instead of letting my collection gather dust, I embarked on a mission to share the joy of reading with others.

Having joined my father on multiple trips to India, I discovered the power of giving back by donating these lightly-used books to various community libraries across Delhi. These libraries, often resource-constrained, became a haven for underprivileged children, especially first-time readers, seeking knowledge and escape through the written word. By donating my books, I not only extended the lifespan of the stories but also kindled the spark of curiosity and literacy in the lives of those who had limited access to books. Soon I was able to able to expand my network and encouraged my friends to also part with their books.

These donations not only liberated our collections but also opened doors to new readers and learners. As I saw the gratitude and excitement in the eyes of those who received the books, I realized that even small contributions had the potential to make a significant impact in promoting literacy and creating a more equitable society. In this beautiful cycle of sharing, my love for reading came full circle, inspiring others and nurturing a lifelong love for books in the hearts of countless young children.
